So what I do is I connect with my VPN, and then after I hit "play" at the launcher, I quickly hit disconnect and it reconnects in time to establish a regular connection with the server. However the low quality of a VPN connection wouldn't allow me connect past the start screen. I eventually had to use a VPN to connect to the launcher. I'm not sure why (the Japanese and Koreans are pretty racist with regards to each other). Most Korean ISPs are blocked entirely from connecting. I'm Canadian but play from Korea which was initially a HUGE hassle, but is fine now.
